About

Me

My name is Meaghan Horne and I am an industrial designer practicing on the traditional and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and the Tsleil-Waututh first nations.

I am currently in my third year of Industrial Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, with 2 classes left until graduation. Before landing in this pathway, I was working at Shopify for 3 years where I learned about the world of e-commerce, digital marketing, and what it takes to make a business tick in a digital space. My role involved hosted seminars and training sessions, in person, as well as the virtual world. I love working with people and finding creative solution to problems that arise in everyday life!

My industrial design practice is one grounded in textile’s and soft goods with a focus on outdoor apparel, gear and accessories as well as some explorations in upholstery and woodworking. I love prototyping and early stage concept design, however, also enjoy getting my hands dirty in the making process. My goal is to bring thoughtful, intuitive products into the world that spark curiosity and support adventure :)

How I do it

Follow the white rabbits; you never know where they will lead.
Thrive on chaos.
Fail, learn. grow, repeat.
When in doubt, map it out.
Communication is key. Collaboration is necessary.
Work hard, play harder.
Change the lens.
Disrupt the norms.
Learn from the losses, celebrate the wins.
